Last week, the seventh anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center occurred. As in years past, in commemoration, there were programs, documentaries, on television channels nationwide playing. I, like many other Americans, happened to watch one of these programs. The one I watched did not involve much talking per se, as in other documentaries, but was more of a montage of images of that morning, spliced together, leading up to the fateful collapse. And as I watched the people, on that clear morning, transform from normal people traveling to work into frantic, panicked, hysterical, frightened people, I asked myself, did the United States government have anything to do with the destruction of the Twin Towers?
I assure you, I am not a crazed civilian living in an underground bunker, stockpiling armament, with wild dirty hair, frothing at the mouth, spewing out the conspiracy theory of the month. Upon reading this, some of you might portray me as such. Is it too much to ask to consider other possibilities outside of the box? All I ask of you is simple. We are now involved in two wars, one major and one minor. I say “we”, because it is not government officials who are involved, though they are the ones who make the decisions to start war, it is we, the citizenry, who always shoulder the responsibilities and consequences of the state. In this sense, it is the civilian who are on the frontlines, ready and willing to shoot and to be shot at, for decisions our politicians and leadership make behind closed doors. The one major war is in Iraq. The one minor is in Afghanistan. I regret using the terms major and minor to describe war, but in this case it is described in this manner to make a point.
After the towers fell, the President, George Bush made his intentions clear. The United States would not tolerate these actions and the response would be swift and without mercy. The President’s father had his two successful military actions while in office, the first Iraq war and Panama. It would seem for a President to have a successful tenure in office, he would have to be a successful Commander in Chief as well, and be at the helm of a great military crusade. Former President Clinton was derided for not being strong enough military wise and lacking the qualifications to be a Commander in Chief. We have a number of Presidents who were elected into office based on the strength of their service in wars of years past. I would tend to think that President Bush wanted his war, just like his father, to define his legacy. The comment he made about Saddam Hussein trying to kill his father, seems to prove the point that he always had his target set on Iraq. This would be his great crusade.
So what better excuse than the destruction of the World Trade Center? What better way to get the populace to support the President’s plans for war. After the buildings fell, the people were exceedingly angry, many talked of vengeance, many talked of destruction, and there were those who supported total war in the Middle East. In this climate of hostility and fear, we looked upon President Bush to fulfill our desire for revenge, and in this wave of popular support, President George Bush, swept into the Middle East, a knight of a new 21st Century crusades, and his approval ratings skyrocketed to nearly 100%. During this time, he seized upon and capitalized on this support and this opportunity to not only establish and strengthen his government, but to circumvent and abolish many laws that protect our sacred rights as human beings. President Bush, secure in his power, and with our complicity, and I say “our” because we, as the people, gave him this power, was able to establish so called democratic governments in both Iraq and Afghanistan, with the strength of the military, thus expanding his government.
The President, taking advantage of this environment of uncertainty, was able to successfully lie to the people he is supposed to serve, making up the story of weapons of mass destruction, to justify his excursion into Iraq. The media, on a daily basis, were reminding us of terrorist alerts and 9/11, keeping us locked in the prison of fear. On the whim of the government, any person could be accused of treason and of being a “terrorist”, and sent to facilities without trial, just for exercising their rights to criticize and expose the wrongdoings of this government. Many other governmental agencies had major stakes in the World Trade Center destruction. These agencies had their limitations lifted and powers expanded. And in his re election campaign, the President and his administration were swept into office, continuing his ability to wage war and establish a government stranglehold on the people. All that has happened in these past seven years hinged on the events of 9/11. Coincidence, you say. I stand by the fact that it is too much coincidence involved to just be mere coincidence. I ask you too look into your souls and ask yourself. Is it too much for governments to sacrifice their own people for their ends? Is it too much for this government, which has lied, and committed numerous crimes, to sacrifice nearly three thousand civilians for its own personal goals? Is it above humans to do this, to kill for personal gain?
The United States government has a documented history of this nature. Case in point: the African American men who were tested postive for Syphilis, and without their knowledge, left to die without treatment in the name of observing and recording the disease’s effects on the human body. And the case of Unit 731 in Japan, during World War 2; this unit conducted experiments of this kind on prisoners of war, from different nationalities, including American. While other Japanese war criminals were executed, the American government made a contract with Unit 731. In exchange for all information attained in their research, they would receive amnesty and the government would keep the activities of this particular unit a secret, not to be revealed to the public at all costs. You are probably unaware, but the government conducted experiments using the populace as test subjects without prior knowledge. Experiments, such as germ warfare, infecting livestock to see the effects on the population, releasing chemicals in the air for us to breathe, tainting water supply systems; the evidence is there, waiting for you to search, if you are inclined to do so. This is a government that gave the Native Americans blankets infected with smallpox, under the guise of peace. Is it still outside the realm of possibility to believe that 9/11 could have been the doing of this government?
Let’s suppose for a moment that the government’s official story concerning the events at the World Trade Center is accurate. Why are the bulk of military resources expended in Iraq? If the government’s story is verified and the enemy originated from Afghanistan, why is Afghanistan not the main focus? Why did it appear as if the President was obsessed with searching for Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden, in the process, became a mere after thought? In essence, Afghanistan as well. Does it not appear peculiar that the President and the government had to go as far as to invent elaborate hoaxes to invade Iraq? If what occurred on 9/11 are actually as described, why Iraq and not Afghanistan? Why Hussein and not Bin Laden? Contradictions such as these cast the official story under the shadow of doubt.
Look at this situation from this perspective. What are the odds are for the following scenario: when the President wanted to invade Iraq, it so happened the towers would fall. Chance, happenstance, you judge. Or was it precipitated? At the very least, again, taking into consideration the government’s version of events, can it be possible that with the number of people involved in a multi faceted operation to destroy several structures, miles apart, on the same day, that the United States was completely ignorant to the fact that planes would be crashing into it’s landmarks? The government has the ability to spy on its own citizens at any given moment, but yet magically do not have the ability stop an action as large as the one that took place that September, the eleventh. Surprisingly, many of the hijackers trained on American soil, and yet, no apprehension.
It is with absolute bewilderment to understand that the American military could seek and find Saddam Hussein in, out of all places; a hole in the ground in Iraq, but Osama Bin Laden has disappeared and is lost to the winds of time. How eager was our President to execute Saddam? It has been seven years and Bin Laden has managed to stay one step ahead of, at least according to official reports. It is incredible that the media has not given significant thought to these questions, or if they have, not made it public.
Some time ago, I viewed some camera footage, I think captured by a security camera, of the plane that destroyed half the Pentagon. But the problem was, it did not look much like an airplane, at least the plane that was stated supposedly slammed into the building. Many other good citizens have made objections based on this footage. What was the object that appears on this video? We may never know, and the evidence is far from conclusive, but again, it does not appear to be the plane that the government stated hit the pentagon. Coupled with the other inconsistencies in this monumental event and the lies the President tried to pass as truth, we can take the government’s position on this video with, as they say, a grain of salt.
I pose this question to you; have not other structures suffered the heat of incredible fires, only to continue standing? Maybe, the question should be, are we searching for the wrong terrorist? It could be that the terrorist we are so adamant about finding occupies our very back yard? Could it be that they sit on the seats of power; are the ones we are looking for but cannot see are those that demand our rigid conformity and instruct us on how to speak, when to speak, and how to live without question. I beseech you to open your minds and hearts and in the inner crevices of your sub conscious to grab a hold of any doubt, any thought that may trouble you about this subject and government, and to foster it as one fosters a plant, without fear. To think beyond your means is the absence of fear. Truly, it is said that our world changed on that one day, but I fear that it has changed, not in the way that those who coined this phrase might believe it to be, but rather that the seeds of totalitarianism have been planted and that this tree is growing ever so slowly but assuredly.
